THREE Years!

So... my amazing husband and I celebrated THREE years of marriage this past week! We spent a few days in Hilton Head, SC riding bikes around town and enjoying the beach... before the craziness of my sister's wedding weekend began! We didn't have internet connection, so I quietly worked on this song during my downtime... and finished this special video TODAY! So... Happy THREE YEAR Anniversary, my love. I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed making it. :)

Storms

Ever since I was a child I prayed to grow up To leave my little nest and learn to fly

I prayed I'd find a love Someone that I could trust To shelter me from storms in this life

When the winds blow When the seas grow When the fires come and burn it all away You are faithful And I'm grateful That you never leave, when it's hard to stay

Sometimes I lay awake In the middle of the night And wonder how I ended up right here

Beside the man I love The one that I can trust To help me overcome my deepest fears

Repeat chorus

Oh, and loving isn't easy But when it comes to you There's nothing that's been easier to do

Blessings

There are rare moments when you hear a song and think... That's exactly what I've been wanting to express, but couldn't find the words to say. This was the case for me with the new song by Laura Story called, "Blessings." I happen to feel every ounce of this song with my whole heart. It's not every day that a song can make me cry. This one did. You see, the past 24 years of my life have been filled with struggles. Alcoholism, abuse, drugs, divorce, suicide... oh, but please don't pity me. These things, these trials... have been used to bring God glory! To show others that it is by the grace of God, that I am who I am. God, with his lovingkindness and mercy, saved me as a child and called me out of the mess I was surrounded by - to show His mighty hand! He works miracles. God has mercy on whom He has mercy. There is nothing in me to boast about it.

I hope you hear the words of this song and are blessed by their meaning.

Blessings

We pray for blessings We pray for peace Comfort for family, protection while we sleep We pray for healing, for prosperity We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering

All the while, You hear each spoken need Yet love us way too much to give us lesser things

Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops What if Your healing comes through tears What if a thousand sleepless nights Are what it takes to know You're near What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

We pray for wisdom Your voice to hear And we cry in anger when we cannot feel You near We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love As if every promise from Your Word is not enough

All the while, You hear each desperate plea And long that we'd have faith to believe

Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops What if Your healing comes through tears What if a thousand sleepless nights Are what it takes to know You're near And what if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

When friends betray us When darkness seems to win We know the pain reminds this heart That this is not, this is not our home

Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops What if Your healing comes through tears And what if a thousand sleepless nights Are what it takes to know You're near

What if my greatest disappointments Or the aching of this life Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can't satisfy And what if trials of this life The rain, the storms, the hardest nights Are Your mercies in disguise

May, Oh May.

I love the month of May. I always have. A lot of it has to do with this being my birthday month, but really... May brings exciting things for many other reasons as well. Especially this year. :) I'll share more details when time permits, but for now here is a list of some exciting things that will happen (or have already happened) in the month of May.

  • My sister's first bridal shower (May 1)
  • X Factor audition (May 7)
  • My birthday (May 8)
  • Mother's Day (May 8)
  • Family in town (May 12-14)
  • Graduation (May 13)
  • Nashville trip (May 20-21)
  • Last day of school/work (May 27)

Such a fun month. The weather is beautiful, the end of school approaches and I get a nice, long break for the summer! I'm also getting so excited for June... sister's wedding, mission trip and singing events... but I'll save my excitement for June for another post. :)
